Ms Asha Narayanan

School Director

As an educationist and educational leader for over the last three decades and more, Ms Asha Narayanan is a visionary with a wide array of experience - as a teacher, as a principal, and as head of curriculum and quality for the group schools across the national curriculum education boards - CBSE, CISCE and the Maharashtra State Board. Her brand of leadership weaves around dedication, commitment and empowering the generation of educators and students who are placed in her charge. Making schools fun places for learning marks her style. Here both the teacher and the student enjoy their learning journey in the school, As Nelson Mandela says, 'Judge me not by my success, but by how many times I fell down and got back up again.' Like Mandela, Asha too, feels that building resilience in students is the need of the hour today. In a VUCA world where things are changing so fast, that the student community is often caught in this vortex, it is important to develop in them the skills of resilience and adaptability. And thus they will be able flow seamlessly into the world of work of the future. She started her teaching career in a CBSE affiliated school, Vidyasagar School - Indore. It was at St Gregrios High School, Chembur, Mumbai where she gained professional wings as a talented, committed and creative teacher. After a decade as a teacher, spanning the primary and secondary classes alike, she held the mantle of Principal at St. Mary’s ICSE School, Koparkhairane for nearly a decade, before working with Lodha World School, Thane as Principal and Dean, and The Shriram Universal School, Palava as the Dean Principal before taking on the current role as School Director of the Thanekar International School, Badlapur. She owes all her success in the various roles held by her to the institutions that she has served over her professional journey.

Ms. Akshata Hirlekar

School Principal

Akshata Hirlekar, a visionary leader with 30 years of experience in the field of education, is the guiding force behind Thanekar International School. She is more than just the head of our school; she is an inspiring mentor and a beacon of excellence. She has worked as a teacher, Principal and Director of schools. She has worked as a teacher in Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania school for 17 long years, starting her journey as a preprimary teacher and then progressing high. She has worked as a Principal and Director of schools with Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal, Narayana Etechno School, Chinmaya Mission’s Arya Gurukul School and Tree House High School. With a passion for nurturing young minds and a commitment to excellence, she is dedicated to providing a holistic learning experience for every student. She demonstrates remarkable leadership and will be steering Thanekar International School towards new heights of success. Under her leadership, Thanekar International School will flourish. She emphasizes not just academic achievements but also character development and personal growth. She believes in fostering a school culture that values diversity, creativity and inclusivity, preparing students to excel in an ever changing world. It has always been our dream to bring the best and the finest infrastructure to the doorstep of Badlapur. Recently when we were exploring the above, we realised that in order to entice the best professional talent into Badlapur and get them to live here and become a part of our city, we needed a few things in place here. Chief among them was having a very good state-of-the-art school, which offers the latest and best in school education. This is to be followed with the best professional colleges and courses to be offered here in Badlapur itself. And also a hospital with the latest research and amenities that medical treatment can offer. When we say best, we mean the physical infrastructure as well as the professional talent, that will govern these institutions. So began the idea of setting up the first branch of the Thanekar International School in Badlapur. The sprawling campus, spread over a large area, is a one-of-its-kind school in our city. The design element takes into care all spaces that are required for the healthy and robust growth and development of our school going children. TIS is a proposed CBSE affiliate. We very carefully located our knowledge partner in Shri Educare Limited, who are an established name in the education industry, with their legacy going back to the Shri Ram College of Commerce, the Lady Shri Ram College and the Shri Ram Schools, New Delhi. As promoters of a premium, world class institution, the TIS, we wish to spare no effort, in bringing the best in terms of talent into our school. We are extremely proud of our association with Shri Educare Limited. LABORATORIES

There will be well-equipped Language, Math and EVS labs as well as Computer laboratories. There will be a multimedia room for many lively classes with presentations in various subjects. The major focus placed on teaching computers, science, technology, engineering and mathematics to the children at junior, middle and high school levels will be supported by a well equipped Robotics Lab with state- of – the – art facilities, a learning space for the children to engage in hands on activity, learning through ‘active play’ and discovering the mechanics of day to day technology. A Skill Development Laboratory will enrich students by integrating STEM concepts with hands on activities. Designing skills, computational thinking, vocational crafts, app development and problem solving skills will be the focus in this state – of – the – art technical space. All these will be equipped with the latest instruments and tools and run competently by experienced laboratory assistants.

SMART CLASSES

TIS classrooms will have Smart Interactive Boards along with projectors and computers. They come with an advantage of combining the features of a computer, the Internet, Power Point Presentations and animation. This will further broadened the scope of e-learning as it will give the teacher a tool to enhance content by integrating images such as graphs, soundtrack, various fonts to add new dimensions to the class. It will enable the teacher to customize content according to the class level.
